Blossom Books was founded in 2018 by celebrated author and educator, Alister Mathieson. His ambition was to educate Canadian children about their own country and inspire them to be involved in, and contribute to, the communities within which they live. Most of all, Blossom Books wants to have children learn about Canada, ask questions about the past and the present and enquire and probe further into the elements that make up our global identity and the multi-cultural fabric of our country.

Canada: Our Road to Democracy

My 10 grandchildren call me 'Grandpa Book' because I read books to them. I can't wait to read Canada: Our Road to Democracy with them. First, the system of government and rule of law we have inherited and delivered is the envy of the world. We have learned how to make diversity and inclusiveness work for us. Second, it is the young who will be the stewards to make democracy work even better for the next generation and we should all start this journey as early as possible.

Are We There Yet? A journey across Canada

Through my travels across Canada, some of my favourite times have been spent in the forests and along the rivers and lakes of this amazing country of ours. Taking us on a family journey, this book explores many wonderful places and captures of discovery across this huge diverse landscape, from coast to coast. This storybook, with its route mapped across the country, brings back memories for me of many places I’ve had the good fortune to travel to, and will hopefully inspire many to get out and explore with their families.

Canada: Our Road to Democracy

One of the reasons we are so lucky to be Canadian is that we live in a free and democratic country. But what does that really mean? And how did we get to this point? It wasn't always easy and a lot of men and women worked very hard to allow us the benefits we have today. Who were they, what did they to and why did they do it? These are all important questions answered in these pages. Enjoy and learn, because you will soon have the responsibility of making sure future Canadians have the same freedoms you have today.

Canada: Our Home and Native Land

This is a marvelous book for young readers, both as a guide to school studies about Canada and simply for the joy of reading. The sequel to Canada: Our Road To Democracy, it tells stories of Canada in appealing fashion centred around each letter of the alphabet. The four animal characters that animate the book will draw in the young and the young at heart alike. I am certain that parents and grandparents will especially enjoy imitating the voices of the beaver, buffalo, goose and moose as they bring this story to life!

Canada: Our Road to Democracy

This is truly a delightful and informative collection of all things Canadian. It is a window through which children (of all ages) can look and see this country and be reminded why Canada is such a wonderful place.

Canada: Our Home and Native Land

Our Home and Native Land does for Canada what too few books do. It takes us from sea to sea to sea in this great land and stops at the geographical, historical and cultural landmarks we should all be proud of, from Anne of Green Gables to Niagara Falls, across the Prairies, over the Rockies, on the railways, stopping to gaze at the majesty of this country in all of its expressions. It is a glorious little book that should be mandatory reading for all school children.
